Under her leadership, DBDT expanded its artistic reach, commissioned bold new choreographic voices, built cross-institutional partnerships, and she pioneered a virtual programming model that connected audiences across 40+ states and 35+ countries. Her artistic influence has appeared on renowned stages including The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, City Center, The Joyce Theater, and at two Cultural Olympiads.
Sam Santiago is a seasoned corporate executive, non-profit leader, and international entrepreneur with 35 years of experience across the travel, tourism, hospitality, logistics, entertainment, spirits, and global trade association sectors.
Sam’s connection to the arts began in his native Puerto Rico—a place rich with extraordinary musical, visual, and performing artists. From an early age, he developed a deep appreciation for theatre, music, dance, visual arts, architecture, and a broad spectrum of creative disciplines—a passion he continues to nurture. He attended medical and business school at the Universidad de Puerto Rico and further expanded his cultural and leadership competencies by earning the Certified Diversity Executive® designation from the Institute for Diversity Certification.
